What to Do & Where to Go
Bingin Beach
A stunning beach with unrivaled views over the Indian Ocean and great waves that make it one of the most demanded surfing points by surfers in Bali and the world. When you arrive you will have to go down some narrow alleyways and when you are new to Bali, it might feel like you came to the wrong place. Don't worry, the alley will eventually open up some beautiful views. You can find several eateries on the beach. Definitely worth a visit.
Melasti beach
One of the newest white sand beach destinations in Bali with freshly constructed roads, supporting facilities, and a luxury vibe. Neat and gorgeous, known for photography and sunset views, backed by rock formations and resort hotels, good to enjoy with your family or your partner. Clean bathrooms and toilets are available for visitors. Palmila beach club can be found on Melasti. 10.000 IDR ($0.7)
Dreamland beach
A 500 meters stretch of white sand with high waves made this beach one of the best surf spots on the island, but not the best for swimming. Dreamland is surrounded on all sides by limestone cliffs, part of an old coral reef covered with tropical vegetation. There is a restaurant with decent food and drinks. I love visiting Dreamland to sunbathe and have a sunset picnic. 15.000 IDR ($1.1)
Balangan Beach Viewpoint
Great spot for a photo overlooking a low-key, white-sand beach and clear blue waters, popular with surfers & sunset viewers, with a few eateries nearby. Spectacular view. Best to visit for sunset time. Hope you are lucky and won't have photoshoots or tourist crowds during your visit.
Uluwatu Temple & The Kecak
One of the top places in Bali for witnessing a delightful sunset, with direct views overlooking the beautiful waves of the Indian Ocean and daily Kecak dance performances (ticket 100.000 IDR $7) held at an amphitheater nearby at 18:00. Balinese architecture, traditionally-designed gateways, and ancient sculptures all add to Uluwatu Temple's appeal.
Karang Boma Cliff (Uluwatu Cliff)
A wooded clifftop lookout is popular for watching the sunset over the Bali Sea. You can drive all the way to the cliff so that your hike will only take around 3 minutes, otherwise, it's a 20-minute walk. Meeting sunset here is an unforgettable experience.
GWK Cultural Park
With a height of over 120 meters, the magnificent Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is Bali's most iconic landmark and depicts the Hindu God Wisnu, atop his mount, the mythical eagle, Garuda. The statue is a central feature of a fascinating 60-hectare cultural park that draws visitors from around the globe and provides a tantalizing glimpse into Bali's fascinating heritage through cultural performances, folklore tales, immense sculptures, and cinematic presentation. Great place to visit with kids. 125.000 IDR ($8.9)
Palmila Bali
A new beach club with a beautiful cliff panorama and white sandy beach, located at Melasti Beach Ungasan. Open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. A good place to enjoy your day and swim both in the stunning infinity pool and the ocean. Avery photogenic location.
Pantai Tegal Wangi Cave
30 minutes away from Uluwatu, you can find Tegal Wangi beach with a gorgeous view of the coastline from above and an epic hidden cave to see the sunset and snap a photo. To find the hidden cave, you have to go down through the rocks and walk to the very end of the beach. This beach is not recommended for swimming as it's full of rocks and reefs. Also, make sure to plan your visit during the low tide, as the cave cannot be accessed during the high tide and it's dangerous.
Jaran Hill Abandoned Lighthouse
A white abandoned lighthouse is a new, free, and exclusive hidden spot in Uluwatu. Not many people know about it, so you will be the only ones during your visit if you are lucky. There is a hole in the fence that surrounds the Uluwatu lighthouse and it is easy to climb to the top via the internal stairs to the first tier and then up the ladder to the viewing platform on the top.
Boeing 737-200
Quirky tourist attraction featuring an abandoned aircraft parked in a lush, out-of-the-way setting since 2008. There is also another aircraft's nose section and some small propellers at this location. The owner of this aircraft has announced the intent to convert the aircraft into a tourist attraction, but this has not yet occurred. Also, a fun place to take a photo.
